The second edition of The Transparent Breath welcomes in Venice the glass jewelry of 20 international artists. Once again, the exhibition has established itself as a meeting place between the millennial tradition of Venetian glass and contemporary innovation on the international scene. The aim is to inspire beauty in the eyes of the visitor and to encourage dialogue about the understanding and inclusion of contemporary glass jewelry in a context full of history and culture as those that the city of Venice preserves.
The Transparent Breath aims to capture the essence of the artist’s breath, transforming it into evocative works with chromatic nuances and delicate transparencies. The very action of inhaling in matter evokes the action of giving life, in this case, to inert matter that is transformed into art. The experience and mastery of the selected artists invites you to immerse yourself in a world where light dances on the surface of the jewels, awakening hidden emotions and whispering timeless stories.
The wearable works exhibited this year follow the common thread of transparency, the main characteristic of glass. Surprisingly strong transparency, contrary to the delicate impression that glass can suggest at first glance. The glass ornament becomes an accessory adhering to the personality of the wearer, accompanying him in everyday life. Different textures, finishes and artistic experiments that characterize the various jewels on display making them unique and not replicable. Each creation is the result of meticulous work, in which craftsmanship meets innovation and the ancient tradition is combined with the modern creative spirit.
The selected artist’s jewels are housed in a prestigious location, a real treasure chest: the ancient Palazzo Nani Mocenigo now home to the Hotel Nani Mocenigo, a few steps from Le Gallerie dell’Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute. The triumph of Venetian history welcomes the contemporary in an ever new dialogue, without ever betraying history and tradition.
The event will be held from August 31st to September 24th, 2023, entering the lively and sparkling context of The Venice Glass Week.
