I DON’T SHINE, I have something to say | venice Design Week 2024
The second edition of I DON’T SHINE, I have something to say was born from the urgent need to rediscover the power of contemporary jewelry as a vehicle for dialogue and social critique. This project, in conjunction with Venice Design Week 2024, goes beyond presenting jewelry as mere ornaments, transforming them into instruments of critical reflection, capable of fostering cultural change. This year’s theme from VDW, OUT OF CONTEXT, invites the public to view jewelry in a new light, far from traditional aesthetics, and to question its role in contemporary society.
The exhibition brings together 21 international designers, whose works address profound and timely themes. From violence and oppression to censorship, consumerism, and reflections on the role of artificial intelligence in art. Every piece exhibited stands as a provocation, a statement, a challenge. There is no room for the superfluous or decorative: each piece of jewelry invites the viewer to ask questions, to challenge themselves, and to reflect on the most urgent issues of our time.
This exhibition aims to be a platform for dialogue between artists, the public, and the world around us. It is not just an exhibition, but an invitation to explore new perspectives and to recognize contemporary jewelry as a mirror of our times.
